BEHIND TONTON

TonTon Atelier is the work of one artist based in New York City. Each piece is made entirely by hand — shaped slowly on the wheel, finished without molds or shortcuts, and never exactly the same twice.

TonTon “튼튼,” meaning sturdy and strong in Korean, is a quiet dedication to the maker’s two sons, Brenton and Preston — a name that reflects the strength and love carried into each piece.

At its core, TonTon is a love letter — from a mother to her sons, and to the act of making. The practice began with a deep affection for clay, its weight and movement, and the meditative rhythm of shaping it by hand. Each piece is then glazed, drawn and painted freehand with care, one at a time.
